Arthur’s theme would be a familiar name to all those who reside in Pune. A restaurant which has been consistent for the past 20 years or more. Started off as a happy little restaurant in the by lanes of Koregaon Park, they have now opened a branch in the latest “happening” part of the city, Balewadi High Street.
Apart from the regular menu, Arthur’s is running a 4 course meal, which is priced somewhere around 800 per person, the menu for which can be chosen from the regular menu or the newly crafted limited menu. The 4-course-meal, considering the quality of the product, is a good deal for the amount.
Leopold II: I couldn’t have asked for anything better to start off the day. Requested the staff to make it a little spicy and the perfect soup was in front of me. Flavorful clear soup with carrots, mushrooms, baby corns and onions with considerable amount of black pepper.
Hawaiian Salad: Never a fan of pizzas / salads with pineapples, but this one is a sure exception and no wonder why. Strips of roasted chicken, bell peppers and pineapple tossed in mayonnaise. The chicken was fresh and well prepared with good flavors and the mayonnaise used was ideal.
Gerard: Fresh and juicy prawns marinated and coated in beer batter and fried. The marinade in itself was tasty and the distinct taste of the fried batter just made it better. Served with a spicy in house sauce, a must try indeed.
Fabian: The choice for a main course, for me, should definitely be a tenderloin. Fabian was the choice and that’s one of the best decisions that I made that night. Medium done steak, topped with garlic cream and served with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. The steak was really well prepared and the mash was decent. Overall a good meal.
A Special Pancake: This is one of the best pancakes I have had recently. Soft pancakes topped with raisins in rum and flambéed. A very innovative and a tasty dessert, was a perfect end we could ask for.
The Walnut Brownie with Ice Cream, Triamisu and the Blueberry Cheesecake were commendable as well.
Purple Flirt, Tangerine Hop and Melon Balls were the drinks served and Purple Flirt was a personal favorite. The Melon Balls had a good after taste of melon but the mouth-feel was just ordinary. Tangerine Hop was refreshing drink with flavors of Tangerine and Orange peels.
*The drinks are not a part of the 4- course meal
Overall a lovely experience. Brilliant food in great ambiance with inexplicable service.
