The tradition of organizing food fests round the year has always been strictly followed by Courtyard Marriott. This time , Middle Eastern Cuisine. Thanks to the expertise from Chef. K.K.Gopalkrishnan who has spend many years in the middle east. He brings all his knowledge into the food fest and its pretty evident indeed.
Soup-e-Murg: Rather the texture of a chowder. Flavorful broth with tender chicken cubes and diced veggies. A Persian preparation and a wonderful start for the fest.
Falafel: Well, for Arabian I thought to stick purely with non veg, however the falafel was an exception. Undoubtedly the best one I have ever had. Typical preparation but not at all dry, the fact which made it stand above the other falafels I have had.
Mezze Platter: Hummus, Babaganush, Burani Spinach, Muhmarra, Fattush and Iranian olive salad were the options for mezze served with pita breads. The mezzes had the authentic touch to it. Babaganush and olive salads were my personal picks.
Chelo Koobideh: Well I could have this the whole day. The flavor is the key for a good Koobideh and oh boy, Chef nailed it. Ground lamb , lovely texture and aptly spiced. Definitely a must have.
Joojeh koobideh, a minced chicken kebab and Joojeh kebab, chargrilled tender chicken were also among the starters and pretty good.
Gheimeh Bademjan: A pretty good option for people who prefer lentil in their gravy. Not my cup of tea. Stew with lentils and chunks of chicken. As expected, the stew had minimal spices but the chicken and lentil gave flavors to the stew. Went well with the saffron rice.
The Dessert Platter was undoubtedly the best dish of the day. The platter consisted of Dates Ice cream, Baklava and Om Ali. Roundel of baklava, topped with delicious ice cream was brilliant. Famous Om Ali from Lebanon was outstanding as well. The dessert uses imported phyllo dough with milk and nuts.
A special mention for the award winning Mixologist, Mr Sanket Tiwari, best in Pune, for his brilliant infusions. The special cocktails by Mr. Harish were potent and brilliant.
The Arabian Ecstacy food fest is up and running till the 9th of Feb, 7pm till 12:30 am. A fest which should not be missed if you are keen on trying some middle eastern cuisine. Totally worth it.
