Pizza baked @ 500° FAHRENHEIT

The new sensation in town is without a doubt, the place that serves healthy pizzas. Pizzas and healthy? What are you kidding me? Absolutely not. They don’t call it healthy for no reason. Welcome to Fahrenheit Custom Pizza.

How is it healthy? The crusts they use for their Signature Pizzas are Sweet Potato, Cauliflower and Multi grain. Yes you heard me right. One of kind, first of its kind (I have ever heard of). To ensure that the pizzas on their menu are actually healthy, they had consulted a Dietician and Nutritionist and made sure the pizzas came out with less/no Trans fats. In fact, 20-25% proteins, 15% good fats, and 55-60% carbohydrates comprises a pizza. That’s a hell lot of info isn’t it?

The base is pressed using a ‘dough presser’ which is flown in all the way from the US, for its mere perfection. Once the base is pressed, the toppings are filled in and there it goes inside the brick oven. The base of the oven is a pizza stone which neatly retains the heat and the wood fire gives that extra kick, the extra taste to their signature pizzas. The baking process takes just 5 minutes tops. Thanks to 500 ° Fahrenheit :).

Thanks to Fahrenheit Custom Pizza and Orca Studios, I and my blogger friends found a table @ Fahrenheit for a food tasting event. Let’s see, rather drool, over what they have got up their sleeves.

So thoughtful of the team to serve chilled juices to us first, as we just came baked due to the afternoon heat. We were offered 2 juices, Kokum and Fresh Lime water. Both were pretty decent and the normal fare, even then I would go with the Fresh Lime as the best drink of that day.

Veg Stuffed Cheese Garlic Bread: Who doesn’t love cheese, and who doesn’t love garlic bread stuffed with cheese? This one was a sheer delight. Perfectly baked garlic bread stuffed with cheese, olives, zucchini, carrot and corn, with a spray of balsamic reduction. You read the name, you read the stuffing, need I say more?

Caribbean Chicken Salad: This was an interesting one. The salad had a veg portion and a non-veg one, separately. The only reason for the setup is that the veg portion, was a lemon and orange dressing whereas the chicken portion was prepared using Teriyaki sauce. Salad had generous helping of fresh leafy veggies, green bell peppers, onions and grated cheese. The rest, as they (never) say, is up to the customers: p.

World Famous Menchies launched @ BHS

What is Menchies ? By this time, the whole world would have known what Menchies is and what’s that they have to provide to the customers. Menchies was started in 2007 in Los Angeles. Simply put, Menchies serves Frozen Yogurt (Froyo) of different flavors. Its mainly a self-service chain which sells at least a dozen of flavors in each of their outlets. Apart from the FroYos, they also serve toppings to go with it, like variety syrups, powders, sprinklers, cakes and what not and they are sold by weight.

Balewadi High Street has become a trend in Pune serving almost everything, to chug and chow, within the vicinity and its heartening to see Menchies being one among the restos. It was the Grand Launch of Menchies @ BHS on 31st Jan and chugnchow, along with other blogger friends were invited for the covering the launch. Mr Avinash and his wife, the Duo who runs the place, were all cheerful throughout the day.

Apart from the Froyos, the most intriguing feature was the colour combination of the interiors and the light works. The place always looks bright and there are just positive vibes all around the place. The launch witnessed an amazing crowd right from babies, teenagers, dudes and dudettes to parents and grand parents 😉 , all of them equally eager to enjoy their favorite flavors of Froyo.

Team Menchies was well prepared for the launch. They had a good number of staffs to help out the customers, mainly first timers. They have got more than a dozen flavors to choose from and the customer can taste the flavors before zeroing in on what he wants to order. Once decided, the staffs helps us to fill the desired amount in the cup ( the customers can very well go for self service as well). Post which we head on to the toppings counter, which we are sure to go mad about! You name it, they’ve got it. Choco chips, choco powder, nuts, gems, marshmallows, snickers, caramel syrup, dark chocolate syrup, fresh fruits, cheese cakes, choco bars, phew…. the list goes on. They staffs weigh your cup and you just have to pay according to what to take. But trust me, you just can’t stop.

Menchies was kind enough to treat the customers on the first day with starters from Arthur’s Theme. Need I say more on how the day was! Veg Sandwich, Cheese pops with dips, Chilly Mushrooms, Corn Fried Mushrooms, were some of the starters served and everything were just amazing, served fresh and hot.

We tasted almost all the flavors and every one of them were simply amazing. It will completely depend on an individual, to get his right choice of Froyo. I personally went with Chocolate, Cookie & cream and Cake batte, topped with some Cheese cake, Choco chips and Chocolate bars, my day was made !!

When compared to Ice Creams, Frozen Yogurts are definitely a healthier options( and sometimes tastier too). Its without a doubt that chugnchow will keep visiting Menchies for more awesome Froyos.

Keep Chowing,

Chug ‘N’ Chow

Belgian Beer Fest @ TJ Brew Works, Goede Bieren

Away from the usual bottled stuff, it has been seen that there is a steep increase in Craft Beer lovers over the past couple of years. Same is the case here as well. Ardent beer lovers, enthusiasts rather, have one thing in common – The thirst to keep chugging more beers. So when the brewster of the place, Ms. Ashwini gave a call explaining the event, I was more than thrilled.

Belgian Brew Fest is one of the four Fests that TJs celebrates in a year. Irish, American and the Oktoberfest being the others.

As usual, chugnchow was much early at the venue, clicking pics, feeling the essence of the new fest. Though the customers were not much on a weekday evening, the staffs were all busy, setting up for the fest. Head Brewer, Ms Ashwini, was the most busiest of them, running all over the place, bringing everything and everyone together.

Finally, it was time for some Belgian Brews. There were 3 Belgian beers planned for the fest: Saison, Lambic Ale and Dubbel.  Read More
